Redesign of University of Maryland Web Site

Launched September 1, 2005 the School site is designed with XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Separate style sheet were developed for screen and print, and additional style are in development for non-traditional devices (such as PDAs and cell phones). The new site was developed with the Web Standards, and has been reviewed and approved by the Web Standards Project Educational Task Force.

INACSL Journal & News Template

Built a Web-stardards version of a news template and online journal for the International Nursing Association of Clinical Simulation Labs.

New Student Orientation Web Site

Built this site for the office of admissions. Site is designed with XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and was launched June 2006.

E-marketing

Created tenplate for taking Web-based press releases to e-mail. Using CSS, XHTML, and tables to ensure proper presentation, this campaign started in April 2006 and has been an effective tool for marketing.

Monthly e-Newsletter

Redesigned monthly newsletter sent to faculty, staff, and alumni.

Press Release

Redesigned press releases to resemble and complement print version. The masthead was recreated for this project since an electronic version did not exist. Totally table-less design.

Career Fair & Career Center

Created career fair Web site with and for students, exhibitors, and alumni. Similar design was developed for career center site for students and alumni.

Sigma Theta Tau Web Site

Redesigned Sigma Theta Tau Web site for the school's chapter. New masthead was created as well as colors to reflect international colors.

Online Learning Module

Designed complementary Web sites for undergraduate and graduate online learning modules. These are the template for each Web-based course being offered at the School of Nursing.

Conference Sites & CDs

Treating Juvenile Sex Offenders Web Site

Created Web site for mental health workers and nurses working to stop juvenile sex offenders. Site is designed with XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and was launched April 2006.

Institute for Nurse Educators Conference Web Site

Created Web site for nurse educators. Site is designed with XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and was launched April 2006.

Summer Institute in Nursing Informatics

Created Web site and CD-ROM to complement print publications for the 14th through 16th annual conferences. Included in the project was the development of multiple new headers.

Fall Lecture Series

Created Web sites to complement print publications for Suzanne Gordon and Tim Porter-O'Grady fall lectures. Included in this was an e-marketing campaign that incorporated the Web sites into e-mails sent to prospective participants.

Evidence Based Practice

Created Web sites to be the primary means for marketing the past three evidence based practice conferences.

Sanctuary Yoga Web Site

Created Standards-based Web site for local Yoga center in the Baltimore area. Site launched in late 2005. Future development includes addition of Flash animation below masthead and additional templates to post fliers and other printed materials.

Grant-Funded and Research Sites

Learning Module for Older Adults

Developed Web site to be used by senior citizens to help prevent falls and hip fractures. Development included integration with streaming media and Flash-based quizzes. Usability testing was part of the site's development for an NIH grant.

Now in Phase Two, the grant was extended by the National Institutes for Health, and we are in the process of expanding and editing the site for a three-year research project.
